Emigration update: We have a case officer!

This is how we’ll be spending our evening…

SAM_5220

We’ve just heard we’ve been allocated a case officer for our migration to Australia! Our application has been in for just over three weeks, and we weren’t expecting to hear this news for about eight weeks! The case officer has been in touch with our migration agent to request that we do the police checks and medicals now. Given that our agent had asked us to wait on the medicals until the case officer asked for them (because they’re expensive and she didn’t want to proceed until the application was going ahead smoothly) it looks as though all of the paperwork they have for us so far has been accepted. All of our plans for house renovations have been based on an eight week wait. Now, we could find we have our visa in March, not April. Obviously, that’s assuming none of us turn out to have a rare, tropical illness.

So tonight it’s a mini celebration with something sparkling, while we rejig our plans about how to sell loads of stuff and finish renovating our house and garden. Fast.

It’s really happening!

If you’d like to read more about our emigration journey, there’s a list of posts about it here. If you’ve been inspired by our plans to up sticks and move our family half way across the world, it would be great if you’d give me your vote in the MAD Blog Awards. There’s even a category for travel related blogs. Thanks very much!

Thanks! We definitely enjoyed it. I’m liking this tradition we’ve started to enjoy something sparkling and chocolatey as we pass each phase of the process! There’s only one more to go now, and that is getting the actual visa. I suspect that might call for more than champagne – I’m thinking a whole night out is on the cards then. x

Thanks! Yes our house renovation is well and truly underway now regardless of how poorly I’ve been feeling with this cough. I’m finally on the mend now though so can focus 100% on #ProjectAustralia. Looking forward to the next stage of good news (i.e. being granted the visa) – we need to top all the champagne/chocolate with a proper night out somewhere special. x
