I’ve got the bedtime blues

17/12/2011 | posted under: All Things Twins

Hell is other people - or more precisely, other people's houses
Shops need to rethink their double buggy/wheelchair access

I tuck you in and give you Bear,

As I brush my lips to your hair.

One at a time, I say goodnight,

Before I leave and turn out the light.

It’s the end of another fun-packed day,

“Now it’s sleepy-time,” I say.

“Please get some rest, both of you,”

And I head downstairs to have a brew.

As soon as I set foot outside the door,

I hear feet patter across the floor.

I make my escape quick and fast,

Hoping the naughtiness won’t last.

Before I reach the bottom stair,

I’ve already been beaten to it by Bear,

Flung over the stair gate, along with Dog,

And your favourite book about a dragon called Zog.

“Come on, back to bed, please!” I cry,

As I kiss my hot cup of tea goodbye.

Micky Mouse lands on my head;

There’s no way they’re ready to go to bed.
