Migrating to Australia: One step closer!

The ordinary moments #15

Just a quick update…

As some of you will have seen from my Facebook and Twitter, yesterday we received the fantastic news that the skills authority have accepted our application for Husband to be classed as an electrical technician!

If you’ve seen my previous posts you’ll understand this was a big hurdle for us. His actual career working in the aviation industry was removed from the main wanted list in July (just as we decided to emigrate), so we’ve had to prove that he also meets the criteria for this general electrical occupation instead. Although we were confident we’d put a good case forward with our agents, it was still a nail-biting six-week wait to hear he’d been accepted.

It’s such a relief to know that assuming the visa applications go OK over the next few months, we can move anywhere we like in the country! It’s exciting that we can start researching places and jobs now. It’s starting to feel real at last!

While I was enjoying a bath after the kids had gone to bed, he sneaked out and came back with chocolates and champagne to celebrate. So we spent our evening drinking champers and watching the new Phil Spencer programme on catch up about finding homes in Oz!
