Review: My Lil Pouch – A reusable baby food pouch

25/09/2013 | posted under: Reviews

The ordinary moments #6

Given our plans to emigrate, I’ve been chatting on Twitter and Facebook to parent bloggers in Australia. A Queensland based mum of two sets of twins (yes, you read that right – TWO sets of twins) asked me to review* a product that she created with another mum because their product was launching in the UK.

My Lil Pouch is a reusable food pouch that you can fill with your own purees. If you like the concept of the baby food pouches from the supermarket, but you don’t like the cost of them or the fact you don’t actually know what goes into them, then this is a great product for you. The pouches can be filled with fruit purees, smoothies, baby food, jellies, soups, custards or sauces and provide food on the go for both babies and toddlers. They also advertise that you can use them for other non-food products such as washing detergent, sun cream and washing up liquid, which makes them great for travelling.

The dishwasher safe pouches are also freezer safe, so you can freeze the contents and then used to keep lunch boxes cool. You can also heat them by standing them in a jug of hot water while you’re out and about, making feeding on the go quick and easy.

As we mostly do baby led weaning with E, her main meals usually consist of things she can pick up and hold herself, but she loves fruit puree so I made a blend of blackberry and pear to try them out. The pouches are freestanding making them easy to fill using a jug. The result? She loved it! If we’re going out and about I tend not to take fruit like apples and pears with me because I’d also need to take a sharp knife to cut them up – this now lets me give her fruit without any mess.

As for my boys…they’re the pickiest eaters ever. They eat limited fruits – T2 eats bananas, T1 eats apples and they’ll both eat grapes and the occasional strawberry but that’s about it. I managed to get them to try the blitzed up fruit in the pouches earlier by calling it ‘purple slime’ – result!

You can buy packs starting at £10 for six small pouches from the My Lil Pouch website.

*I was provided with a pack of pouches for the purposes of the review. All opinions are my own.

What a clever idea, these would be great for my two. My three year old still loves fruit pouches!

It’s one of those products that you think should have been invented ages ago! I’m a food pouch convert now. x

    Great review 🙂
I’d be tempted to get some but I’m not sure what adult friendly food I could put in them :/

Ask for ideas on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MyLilPouch?ref=ts&fref=ts as I’m sure they have some good ideas! Cooking oil/salad dressing/ketchup etc on camping trips?! Saves taking the big bottles with you! x
