Sibling love: The ordinary moments

26/02/2014 | posted under: All Things Twins, Linkys, Guest Posts & Sponsored

Emigration update: We have a case officer!
20 Life hacks for parents of twins

I couldn’t pick one ordinary moment from the last week as there were too many good ones, so you’ve got two instead! Both are along the theme of sibling love.

The first is a cute kiss between T1 and E. A while ago, she started giving really big kisses to everyone. She hasn’t figured out you put your lips together to kiss, instead she comes at you with a wide open mouth. When she’s planted her kiss (half of it over your nose) she leans back and says “Bah”, giggles and then comes back for another one. This process gets repeated until she’s all kissed out. As you’ll see from previous posts, it’s usually T2 who is more affectionate with her. In this photo, T1 is the one giving her a kiss, which makes a nice change to him telling her off for stealing his cars.

The second is from one night last week. The boys had gone to bed as normal. After their bedtime story, they usually get into one of their beds together and read books for a while, before turning out their lamp and going to sleep in their own beds. A few nights ago, I heard a shout from T1 about an hour after they’d gone to bed. I hadn’t heard a peep from them for a long time, so I’d assumed they’d been asleep. When I got upstairs I found T1 in his bed with no duvet, pillow or cuddly toys. Instead, it seems, they’d stacked them all on T2’s bed. He’d gone to sleep on top of his bedding and their toys, with T1’s duvet on top of him. T1 had sat in his bare bed wondering what to do for ages before he’d called us for help. I guess he didn’t want to pull the duvet back off his brother and risk waking him up.

Two ordinary moments are even better than one! What a sweet, sweet kiss! My little ones are into cuddling each other at the moment (sometimes with a fierce and borderline scary edge to it), and I love watching them. x Mel

This is so lovely. My favourite thing about being a Mum to two is watching the interaction between my two and the way their sibling bond is developing all the time. It’s lovely to watch. And I agree, two ordinary moments are even better than one! x
