My singleton pregnancy at 37 weeks

I haven’t done any pregnancy posts for a while so I thought I’d give you a bit of an update…

I’m 37 weeks +1 today. I’m feeling pretty sprightly for this stage, even with two toddlers to chase around.  I haven’t developed pre-eclampsia or obstetric cholestasis like I did in my twin pregnancy; my only ailments so far are are gestational diabetes (which I’m controlling with my diet) and mild anaemia. My feet and legs only swell up on hot days when I’ve been walking around – as opposed to during my twin pregnancy when I had elephant legs from about 24 weeks. Overall, this is proving to be soooo much easier than my last pregnancy. I don’t get out of breath because my lungs aren’t squeezed and I can eat a plateful of food because there is room in my stomach. I seem to have an acrobat inside my tummy as she rolls and spins constantly enjoying all the room she still has left. This is compared to my boys who had to resort to kicking each other in the head to gain back a bit of the no man’s land that lay between them. I still look down in shock at the size of my bump, which to me feels tiny. The bonus is this time I’m getting to wear the size 10 and 12 maternity clothes I bought last time which didn’t come close to fitting me after about 18 weeks.

To give you an idea of the size difference between my twin pregnancy and my singleton pregnancy, here is the proof (hover over the image for the dates)…

With my twin bump I couldn’t even fit my arms around it at 33 weeks and man was it heavy! Even today at 37+1 I weight over three stone less than I did at the end of my twin pregnancy (at 38+5) and my bump is still a whopping 10 inches smaller.

I can’t quite believe that I have just got my C Section date through. I will be meeting my baby girl on Tuesday 4th September. Wish me luck!
