Although I’m not a believer in cosmic ordering – that is, asking the universe for something in a positive way and hoping you receive it in return – I almost started to wonder a few days ago. You see, I tweeted asking beauty bloggers to suggest some hand creams I could try. I’ve been washing my hands constantly lately due to the kids being ill the entire winter and I felt it was time I treated myself to something a bit luxurious.
Anyway, the next day I received an email from Hotel Chocolat asking if I’d like to pick something to review from their Mother’s Day range, and guess what was at the top of the list?! It was obviously meant to be.
I’m a sucker for packaging – I really think it makes all the difference if you’re buying a luxury product. Once I’d opened the box, I found a stylish Hotel Chocolat gift bag tied with a ribbon, with a personalised card attached to the side. Inside, the hand cream was wrapped in tissue paper. As a lover of pretty things, I have to say, I was wowed by the packaging. It was smart, stylish and it made me feel like I was receiving a real treat. The product itself smells divine, and the rich cream glides into your skin leaving your hands silky smooth. It’s just the sort of item I like to keep in my hand bag or by the side of my bed to use whenever I need a bit of pampering. Even a few hours later my hands were still feeling soft, which I find quite rare with hand creams.
The hand cream costs £19, which is a bit extravagant, but then it’s a luxury product and it will last a long time. I’d be impressed if Husband bought something like this for me. I don’t get nearly enough time to pamper myself, but things like body creams and hand creams can give you an instant pick-me-up without taking any time. Plus, compared with having a one-off spa treatment. investing in quality products gives you greater value for money and means you get to treat yourself whenever you like.
I was only asked to review the product, but I just wanted to say how impressive the Hotel Chocolate website is. It’s so easy to navigate! It’s really simple to search for items as there’s lots of criteria to choose from, including occasion, type of chocolate, price and who the gift is for. I suspect something on there might find its way onto my birthday list next month (I have to admit to never having tasted Hotel Chocolat chocolates before but they look divine).
Nominate another blogger
Hotel Chocolat asked me to nominate another mum blogger who I felt deserved a treat, so they can send a product from their Mother’s Day range on to them. I’m nominating somebody who was a friend in real life long before either of us started our current blogs. Steph was one of the first mums I met when I joined my local twin club. She’d just had a pair of perfect, tiny identical girls and I had a big bump. I think she deserves a treat, because not only does she have three children and a business to run, but she also fosters puppies to train them as hearing dogs which I think is an incredible thing to do. And she is renovating her house, and does so much for our local twin club (runs the website, Facebook page, organises events and raises loads of amazing raffle prizes!) I really don’t know where she finds the time! She blogs over at Renovation Bay-Bee, so please hop over and say hello.
I hope she enjoys her treat!
*I was sent the hand cream free of charge in return for a review. All opinions are my own.

Did it make you want to eat your actual hands? Yum yum yum. Looks gorgeous. I don’t spend much on myself but when I buy beauty things, I buy the good stuff. This looks great.

It doesn’t smell chocolatey, otherwise I would want to eat it! It’s more fruity with a hint of floral but not too overpowering – just a lovely delicate scent. I agree, I rarely get to spend on myself now so when I do I like to invest in better quality products. x

I’m not sure if they do all year around or if it’s just to co-incide with special occasions like Mother’s Day. I’m looking forward to trying the chocolates next. x
