This photo was taken last week on my phone. We’ve converted the end of our garden into a playground. It took us about two months of backbreaking work but I’m so pleased we did it as it is the perfect spot for the kids to play.
I love that my boys have each other to play with. They giggle and run around making up games (their favourite being “banana detectives” which involves them chasing one another around the trampoline shouting “banana detectives” on repeat – I have no idea where it came from but it keeps them entertained for ages!)
I was sitting under a tree enjoying a sit down with a coffee when I looked up to see them coming down their slide together like this. When they got to the bottom they’d run back around and do it over and over again.
I want to bottle up these moments, because I know as they get older there will be less and less of them. Grown up boys don’t cuddle and hold hands like this. It breaks my heart – I want to keep them like this forever. Whenever we have double tantrum moments, I try to remember these special times to remind myself how amazing it is to have twins.

What a wonderful playground – your boys will be the envy of all their friends, it’s fantastic! I’m loving watching my little girls grow up together, but with their age gap, and Elma being so very small at the moment they’re a bit limited. It must be a lovely perk of twins that they’re always there to be playmates.
If you do work out how to bottle up these precious years let me know – I know each new stage brings more and more exciting developments but I just love the one we’re in right now!

I know about the difficulty of the age gap too as there is two years 10 months between them and their little sister. Letting them play together is very tricky as she always comes off worst! It will be gorgeous when she’s on her feet properly and can chase after them. Like you, I’m loving all three of them at this exact age. I know there are lovely things to come, but right now is pretty perfect. In the meantime we’ll just have to take lots of photos and blog all about them to capture our memories. Thanks for stopping by. xx

I bet your boys love this! If I had a garden I would definitely invest in one of these for the children, I think they are well worth the money, come rain or shine!

Thanks for popping over. They do love it and so do I because it means I sometimes get to sit down and enjoy a hot coffee while they all play together! x

Oh wow I wish we had something like this in our garden! We live round the corner from a park but the main problem with that is the other children!! x

The aim of creating the playground was so we didn’t have to go to the park so often. Getting there is fine, but when it’s time to leave it’s not so easy trying to push a buggy and drag two small children who have decided they don’t want to leave! x

It has been a great place to hang out this summer. I love how inventive they are – under the slide has become the shop, behind a bush is a bakery – half the time they don’t even play on the playground equipment at all! It is creating lots of lovely memories. x

I am very jealous of this – i bet your boys have such a great time! Our garden is the size of a postage stamp so no hope of a playground for us! x

I do love our garden – it’s just a shame the house isn’t as big to match! Wish we could take the playground with us when we (hopefully) move to Australia next year. After all the hard work creating it, it feels sad to leave it behind. x

What a fabulous playground, it looks lovely even from this small glimpse of it. And I can fully imagine what you mean about your boys growing up and not cuddling or kissing, thats just boys isn’t it? But I am sure they will have a bond and such a great friendship. x

I hope they will and that as they grow up they don’t spend the whole time arguing. Why do our kids have to ever grow up?! I love them at this age. x

What a gorgeous picture, you’ve really captured a lovely moment. Ha ha love the idea of the banana detectives too… do you think they go out seeking wayward bananas?!?!? x
TalesofaTwinMum says
Thanks! Somebody on Twitter told me banana detectives is off Banana’s in Pyjamas so I’ll have to watch it to see what on earth it is! x

Such a lovely moment! Your garden play area looks amazing! Its lovely to see your boys sharing a cuddle, i hope it continues for a long time. I still get cuddles from my little brother and he is 24!

Hopefully they’ll stay cuddly then as they get older! I can but hope! Thanks for stopping by. x

That’s such a nice photo. How lovely to look up and see that. My boys have two years between them but don’t get on all that well yet (BB is only 8 months so there’s plenty of time). From a mum’s point of view, I bet it doesn’t get much better than seeing your boys like that x

I’m sure they’ll be playing together before you know it. My baby turned one earlier this month and they still don’t play with her yet but I’m sure as she gets on her feet more it’ll happen. You’ve got a lovely close age gap too so they’ll be at school together and everything which will be lovely. x
